The lost art of painting the sea

For two centuries the open sea was the subject serious painters measured themselves against: weather, weight, and the small human thing being thrown around in it. That is the sea Vaelmar paints, in the manner of the old masters who took it seriously. Dark, heavy, and with a will of its own.

Each artwork is printed to order on fine-art paper or canvas. Canvas is available with or without an outer wood frame.

Materials

Fine-art paper +

Printed edge to edge on smooth, 200 gsm matte paper using 12-colour giclée printing. The paper is acid-free and FSC-certified. Supplied unframed.

Gallery canvas +

Printed on canvas fabric made from cotton and polyester, stretched over a slim wooden support. The print wraps around the sides, with no outer frame or glass. Hanging kit included.

Framed canvas +

Stretched canvas in a wood frame, with a narrow gap between the canvas and frame. Choose black, natural wood or dark brown. Supplied assembled with a fitted hanger, without glass.

How is the print made? +

Paper prints use 12-colour giclée printing on 200 gsm matte paper. Canvas prints use inkjet printing on canvas fabric made from cotton and polyester, then are stretched over wood. Each print is made to order.

How long does delivery take? +

Your order is usually on its way within a few days and arrives in roughly 4–10 business days, depending on your country. Full shipping details →

Can I return it? +

Your collector inscription is printed into the artwork itself, so the piece is yours alone and cannot be sold to anyone else. That puts it outside the 14-day change-of-mind return. If it arrives damaged, faulty, or different from what you ordered, we put it right at no cost to you and you usually keep the original. Return terms →

Does framed canvas come with glass? +

No. The canvas sits in a wood frame, with no glass covering the print.
